This was an assignment from a writing class I'm taking. I was concerned with form and clarity and those writerish kinds of things.
As I reread it now, I realize I have captured the essence of who I am. This really is what I believe and how I choose to live.
I Believe
that one should never lie to children,
they are much wiser than we give them credit for.
I believe everybody deserves a second chance,
and we should not be remembered by our worst days.
The roughest looking people often have
the kindest hearts, and new friends arrive
from the most unlikely places.
I believe grace abounds if we are willing
to seek it out, some nights are longer than others,
and joy does not necessarily come in the morning.
I believe everyone I meet is indeed fighting a hard battle,
so I try to be kind.
