So in order to start off this discussion board lets maybe first try to examine the said differences between the man that Aleister Crowley was and the man that he chose to be i.e. the man and the magician, the differences between the two and in fact which one was which in the instance of a moral basis. Can we do that and is that possible?

Was Aleister Crowley the first Anthropologist of modern man?

Can anyone copy his practices down to a T and still produce the "Perfect American family"?

I have read much about and by AC, to the point that I would consider my knowledge of the man to be considerable -- but I have hardly scratched the surface. There is much good and much bad about AC, many of his practices were positive and many negative.  I can only wonder, however, if is it possible for anyone to accurately and completely copy his practices? Further, many of his practices are, in my opinion (and in the opinion of many ceremonial magicians I have met in my time) not practices that would be very conducive to producing the "Perfect American Family."

AC was a genius, perhaps a maniac genius, but a genius nevertheless.  He was in touch with a very valid stream of knowledge. Anyone investigating Magick in any form would do well to investigate the work of AC, however, not in the very beginning of studies. AC's work is for the more advanced practitioner of Magick.

I guess the first thing would be how to be able to run a successful business without putting it into the ground. After all he was left quite a fortune and now that i think about it so was one of his followers who aslo decided to drive the family estate under after his father died to but not before he suffured from an "accidental" explosion.

Here's a theory that came to me the other day on good old Aliester. Since there isn't much evidence that I've been able to find besides a few heard to makeout ritual incantations, is it possible that other than penmanship and ritual and ceremonial incantations, is it possible the man was able to create a world for himself which denied the neccessity of speech?

I believe it hard to tell. Once again a possibility. . .

in regards to Frater.... I believe it is possible that crowley was able to create a world for himself which denied the neccessity of speech, but trough the use of tools such as mescaline and magic mushrooms, which, aside form other psychedelics effect the logos rather than the ego. This chemognosis, means that over prolonged periods of ritual and practice, it could be possible to have evolved thought to work at an non-verbal, intangible level. In the same way Leary said that a religious experience is necessitated by LSD, and that over time you could literally keep blasting your ego out of your head. The same could be considered for Crowley, if you use mescaline and shrooms enough, you can blast sppech out of your head!
