The "most significant" challenge society faces today is society. As global events unfold seemingly simultainiously so called society will struggle to maintain cohesion.

LOL!!!! TRUTH
So many are too far to the left (psychopaths); An excess is too far to the right (sociopaths); And too few are in the middle path.  Of those, they tend not to have a proper balance of LVX; truth, love, and life.
I wish we had like buttons

I personally do not believe that we live in a society anymore: that was for a different time period.  Civilization is crumbling before our eyes we have allowed the merchants to do it to us.  These merchants poison our skies and our waters and they leave the land scarred with their waste products and buildings they no longer want.  People today live in a cestpool of merchant activity that will do or say anything to bring as much misery into the world they could conjure up.

Our school systems are crumbling because the merchants that own a great deal of land do not have to pay school taxes and or real estate taxes.  And when it is time to pay they go bankrupt and start up again with a different name.  Or they go to a different State of the Union.

I have seen where a man earned enough money to raise a family of four and the wife stayed home and raised the children and they were much more behaved then now.  Now both wife and husband have their children raised by a baby sitter that should be baby sitted.  And two salaries can not do what the one salary use to do.  That was planned fifty years ago and my whole life I watch the merchants of this country destroy civilization.

I see people everyday looking for jobs and would be glad to just get a minimum wage but the jobs are not there because they have been farmed out for cheaper labor is far off lands where the products are produced by sweat shops.  Women and children have to wear diapers because they don't even have a bathroom break.  And we Americans pay for the products as if they were produced in America.  A shirt that cost $.025 to make from cotton field to the hanger in the store should cost the consumer a dollar not $25.00 - $35.00.

The fast food chains are literally serving HORSE MEAT and calling it beef and our childrens are becoming as big and as heavey as the horse.  And our government does nothing when the people are treated as dogs: giving dog food as a main staple of their diet.

I see our children going to college and saddled with $250,000 loans, which will make them indenture slaves for a better part of their lives.  Christ asked would you give your child a serpent to eat?  If those loans are not serpentine I don't know what is.  Imagine paying rent, and the various insurances and other monthly fees just to live in so-called society while paying off these horrendous loans.  Why do you think we saddle our children with these loans or should I ask why the government and merchants saddle them with loans.  Because if our children see criminal activity going on they will shut their mouths or loose their livelihood.  There is no other reason under the face of the sun to saddle our middle class citizen with this camel's burden.

Why do you think there was a Civil War in America?  Because of Slavery?  That is a joke.  The indenture white slaves of the north were treated far worst then the Negro living on the plantations of the south.  They were given food, clothing, housing and medicine because they were considered property and an investment.  The white indentures slaves of the north had to fend for themselves and lived in the worst conditions imaginable.  The contrast was so great the Aristocracy of the south laugh at the ignorance of the north.  That is what the war was all about.  Even Abraham Lincoln wrote a letter to Horace Greely saying, "I do not care if the Negro is freed or not I only want the Union to be reunited."

WE ALL KNOW WHAT POLITICAL SPIN IS and each side's lawyers can argue the two sides of a mobius strip and they teach that in college how to argue pro or con: it matters not to the merchant what side you are on - it is only who wins.

I see people paying $600.00 a month for medical insurance, which does not pay but a fraction of the medical bills that come in after seeing a doctor.  I see people spending 5, 7, 12 hours in a emergency rooms before seeing a doctor and this is America.

DO YOU CALL THIS A SOCIETY

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT WE CALL CIVILIZATION

THIS IS THE BOWELS OF HELL

& IT IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

Most of my life I have kept off the grid for the most part and I have been lucky to have served in the military and now receive 100% medical without cost.  I wish all citizens could be so lucky.  I stay away from paying insurances they are  absolutely ludicrous.

THE CHALLENGE THAT THE INDIVIDUAL FACES TODAY IN SOCIETY

IS HIS ABILITY TO TURN HIS BACK ON IT AND GO HIS OWN WAY.

THAT IS EASIER SAID THEN DONE BUT WHAT OTHER CHOICE DOES HE HAVE?

I have seen so many active groups in my life time  trying to save this forest or that lake or that bird or whatever the cause and there will be ten campaigner out there collecting monies for the same cause and do you know that those same organizations are working against the people trying to do good.  They don't want to save the forest they want to level it to build condominiums. nor to they want fresh water because they want to sell it to you.  READER'S DIGEST listed hundreds of such companies a while back that collected monies for so-called good causes and the actually mission of each of those organization was diametrically oppose to what the name of their company implied: SAVE THE FOREST, SAVE THE LAKE OR SAVE THE BIRD or whatever.  And this is legal in AMERICA.  It is legal to collect monies for such enterprises from unsuspecting people.

In America we allegedly have representation in Congress.  Actually that is false because after the elected go to Congress they vote for what the leadership says and not for what the constituency says.

IS THIS A SOCIETY?????????????

I think we are all saying the same thing...just using different words my love...

So accurate...

Okay, I'll throw my two cents in.  I think the greatest challenge facing our society today is the denial of our inter-connectedness, which leads to greed and hate and terror. If people face up to the fact that we are all connected through innumerable connections of nature and genetics alone, we would have to accept that we actually ARE responsible for our fellow man. And for many people in this post 20th century mentality of greed and ego and power, that is just not acceptable. Not only do they not want to accept it, but they actively rally against anything of the sort!!  Funny that many of these same people fight so hard for the rights of the unborn, but once the child comes into this world it is on it's own.  There is a reason for that, of course - it is a fake form of social compassion, one that seems pious and righteous but ends when the real responsibility begins... but I digress.

If we don't start accepting that we ARE responsible for both each other and the planet, we will not survive as a species. The planet will continue, but will become inhospitable for humans. And this planetary adjustment has been hastened by our behavior up until now - call it whatever you want. Global Warming... unfortunately that label has been abused and maligned - however, whatever label you call it, we are destroying the planet's resources, at an impossibly scary rate. Again, if we don't accept responsibility for polluting and pillaging the planet's resources it will end our relationship with it - probably violently, and probably sooner than we think.

Religion divides people further and most religions treat the earth as if it were something sinful, or something we have dominion over, not something we are equal partners with. They do nothing to unite us. Until we as a species overcome these collective delusions, we are on a path to mutual destruction of each other and the planet.

Good job Jaefar S.A.B.N.W. Let me guess the relation of negative psychological/sociological complexes in relation to politics? Either way I like it, it works, keep it up.  To all who take the middle path say I!

P.S. thanks you guys and don't worry I DON"T PLAN ON USING any of this to get into Stanford! :P lol no really just joking I'm sure by then our society will have a whole new list of challenges come the fall.

Who knows? Maybe by then North korea will finally quit talking, man up and do something about it instead of leaving it up to the laws of nature to take out their neighbors! No sorry just jking once again.
